Number of Motorcycle Deaths on Rise By: WLNS.com "The number of motorcycle deaths has gone up in the past eight years. That's according to a study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Michigan State Police say last year we saw a 54% jump in motorcycle accidents. Experts say those numbers could go down if bikers got more training. Sgt. Steven Spink, Michigan State Police: "A motorcycle can out perform, out accelerate, stop quicker than any four-wheel vehicle and in the hands of a properly-trained operator, it should be one of the safest vehicles on the road." State police say half of all motorcycle accidents are caused by bikers, and most of those are single-vehicle accidents."
