Brighton Motorcycle Accident

Martinez improving after motorcycle accident By: MetroWest Staff "Justin Martinez, 18, of Brighton, continues to fight for his life at Denver Health where he was flown last week after he was involved in a motorcycle accident on U.S. Highway 85 near Weld County Road 6. Martinez was southbound on U.S. 85 near Weld County Road 6 about 6:30 p.m., returning home from a family camping outing with his cousins. A bag tied on the back of his Honda Shadow motorcycle shifted and got caught in the rear wheel causing him to lose control. Martinez was not wearing a helmet. He was flown by Greeley Flight For Life helicopter to Denver Health where he underwent five hours of surgery. He remains in critical but stable condition with a severe brain injury. Martinez is the son of Janette and Anthony Martin Solano of Brighton and Alfred Martinez of Arvada. He attended Brighton High School through his junior year before he transferred to Pomona High School where he graduated this past spring."
